Observations on the distribution of sulfur nanoparticles on suspended and supported graphene layers

摘要
In this paper, we report the distinct difference in the distributions of sulfur nanoparticles(NPs) on suspended graphene compared to supported one. With vapor deposition of sulfur NPs onto graphene with patterned substrate, we find that the density of NPs on supported regions is 3 to 8 times larger than that on suspended ones. Different correlations between density and number of graphene layers are observed, being positive for suspended and negative for supported regions. The density also increases with the area of the suspended regions. The mechanism underlying these phenomena is attributed to the ripple induced enhanced diffusion of sulfur on suspended graphene.
